eu-LISA has published the first quarterly statistics report on the Entry/Exit System (EES), offering an initial overview of data recorded during the system’s first months of operation. Covering the period from 12 October to 31 December 2025, the report marks the start of eu-LISA’s regular quarterly statistical reporting under Article 63(4) of the EES Regulation.
During the reporting period, the EES recorded 8,180 refusals of entry, 283 revoked authorisations for stay, 479 extended authorisations for stay, and 492,345 exemptions from the requirement to provide fingerprints.
The Entry/Exit System is one of the EU’s large-scale IT systems in the area of freedom, security and justice. It digitally records the entry, exit and refusal of entry of third-country nationals travelling for short stays to and from the Schengen area, helping to support efficient border management and stronger security across Europe.
As this first report covers the EES progressive roll-out period, the figures reflect data only from border crossing points where the system was operational during the reporting period. This means the statistics do not yet present the full operational picture of the system. In particular, no data on overstayers or duration of stay is included, as the automated calculation tools could not yet provide reliable information while the system was being gradually introduced across participating countries.
The system became fully operational across the Schengen area on 10 April 2026, following the end of the progressive roll-out period.
