As part of eu-LISA’s key activities, the Agency is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating training on the technical use of the large-scale IT systems in the Justice and Home Affairs (JHA) domain to IT experts and other law enforcement officials from the Member States that manage the IT systems.
The Agency's training offer combines traditional classroom training with readily available e-learning formats, focusing on the use of e-CODEX, Eurodac, SIS and VIS as well as the upcoming EES, ETIAS and ECRIS-TCN systems, and the Interoperability framework. Moreover, our 'Horizontal' training portfolio covers transversal topics, that cross-cut multiple IT systems, or that assist trainees in building up their general comprehension of the use of IT systems in EU internal security. We propose a variety of profile-based training activities, such as live webinars, demo presentations and hands-on sessions, as well as face-to-face training and self-paced online courses and modules. The eu-LISA Learning Management System (LMS), the Agency’s online learning platform, supports our extended e-learning offer, catering for diverse learning styles with a dynamic package design that stimulates active learning, including interactive audio- visual elements, self-assessment, and knowledge checks.
In close cooperation with the National Contact Point network representing the Member States, and key stakeholders, the Agency aligns its training activities to the needs of the Member States. The NCP Network actively contributes to the process of establishing training needs through an annual Training Needs Assessment exercise and supports eu-LISA in the development and updating of training courses, methodologies, materials, and tools.
Structured partnerships with other JHA European Union Agencies, such as CEPOL, Frontex and Europol, as well as the European Commission, play an essential role in fulfilling the Agency's objective to implement, coordinate and develop joint training activities for the Member States, thus supporting their efforts towards a safer Europe through technology.
Permission to access the training resources and learning portfolio in eu-LISA's LMS, is limited to Member State and Schengen Associated Country authorities (e.g. border management authorities, law enforcement officials, immigration and visa authorities, asylum authorities as well as their technical personnel), and coordinated by the National Contact Points appointed by the Member States and other stakeholders concerned.
