The Agency's administrative and management structure comprises of a Management Board, an Executive Director and Advisory Groups

The Management Board (MB) ensures that eu-LISA delivers on its statutory commitments in a cost-effective manner.

The Execute Director (ED) manages the Agency's operations and ensuring that mission objectives are carried out according to the legal mandate and strategic goals.

Advisory Groups (AGs) are thematic groups comprised of Member States and EU Agencies that focus on the large-scale IT systems. Further to the AGs, the Agency may establish temporary governance bodies operating during the design and development phases of core projects - these are called Programme Management Boards (PMBs).

The employees of the Agency are split into departments, units and sectors that are located mainly in its headquarters in Tallinn and operational site in Strasbourg.

Since its first years in action, eu-LISA has been committed to the development and retention of its employees. The goal is to recruit and retain personnel that possess the competencies and skills required for the Agency to successfully implement its strategy and working programmes.

The Agency focuses its efforts on the professional and career development of its staff and the evolvement of the organisation based on its mission, vision and values, aligning the capabilities of the organisation’s technology with extensive competencies of its human capital.

eu-LISA also relies on Working Groups (WGs), which are coordination bodies that address specific topics, such as artificial intelligence, biometrics, carrier associations, security officers and training national contact points.
