The Management Board of eu-LISA met in Tallinn and online on 17–18 June 2026 to review progress across the Agency's portfolio of large-scale IT systems and discuss key developments in the implementation of EU policies in migration, border management, internal security and justice.

Management Board welcomes the launch of the new Eurodac

A key point of discussion was the entry into operation of the first phase of the new Eurodac system and associated interoperability components on 12 June 2026.

The Management Board congratulated eu-LISA, the Member States, the European Commission, and the relevant EU Agencies on this important milestone. For the first time, the launch of a major EU information system was accompanied by the simultaneous entry into operation of key interoperability components – the European Search Portal (ESP), the Common Identity Repository (CIR) and the shared Biometric Matching Service (sBMS) – together with functionalities supporting the implementation of the Interoperability and Screening Regulations.

The Board took note of the state of play of the new Eurodac and the interoperability architecture and welcomed the ongoing hypercare period, during which eu-LISA and Member States continue to closely monitor system performance and provide any necessary support.

Reviewing progress across the Agency's systems portfolio

The Management Board reviewed progress on the Agency's major operational systems and development programmes.

Discussions covered the Entry/Exit System (EES), the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), the Schengen Information System (SIS), the Visa Information System (VIS), interoperability, the Screening Regulation, ECRIS-TCN and ECRIS-RI, the Prüm Router and the API-PNR Router.

Members noted the significant efforts required across the EU to deliver and operate several major information systems in parallel and exchanged views on the related implementation and planning activities.

The Board also discussed developments in the justice domain, including e-CODEX and the Joint Investigation Teams Collaboration Platform (JITs CP).

Governance, accountability and organisational resilience

The Management Board adopted eu-LISA's Consolidated Annual Activity Report for 2025 and delivered its opinion on the Agency's Final Annual Accounts for 2025.

Members also reviewed the draft audit report of the European Court of Auditors, took note of the Assessment of the Internal Control Framework Report for 2026 and received updates on the implementation of audit recommendations and internal audit activities.

The Board adopted amendments to the Internal Audit Plan for 2026, approved security and business continuity plans for key systems, adopted decisions related to cooperation with other EU agencies and the discussed Agency's infrastructure projects, including office facilities in Strasbourg and the Backup Site in Austria.

Future priorities and strategic outlook

The Board received updates from the European Commission on legislative proposals affecting the Agency's operations and on the implementation of EU policies in the areas of migration, border management, internal security and justice. Members also took note of the priorities of the incoming Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Further discussions focused on budget implementation, customer satisfaction, human resources matters, working arrangements at Headquarters and the implementation of obligations stemming from eu-LISA's founding regulation.

Through its discussions and decisions, the Management Board reaffirmed its commitment to supporting eu-LISA in delivering secure, reliable and innovative digital solutions that contribute to the effective implementation of EU policies in migration, border management, internal security and justice.
