First Advisory Group Meetings of 2026 Set the Year’s Course

From 12 to 16 January 2026, eu-LISA convened the first Advisory Group (AG) meetings of the year online, bringing together Member States, partner Agencies and the European Commission to review implementation progress and coordinate next steps for large-scale EU IT systems supporting border management, security and justice.

 

EES – Successfully launches Carriers Web Services

The Entry/Exit System (EES) Advisory Group reviewed the legal and operational state of play, including operational monitoring, incident management and planned developments. Discussions focused on upcoming system releases, testing activities and biometric data quality in operations. A key highlight was the successful launch of the EES Carriers Web Services, marking an important milestone for carriers and the wider transport and travel sector.

ETIAS – Advances security, architecture and testing

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) Advisory Group exchanged on progress related to system security and architecture, end-to-end testing preparations and upcoming developments. Updates were also provided on planned support for national authorities and next steps towards operational readiness.

JITs CP – Advances delivery of a secure platform

The Joint Investigation Teams (JITs) Collaboration Platform Advisory Group reviewed progress on the development of a secure digital platform supporting cooperation between judicial and law enforcement authorities across Member States. Discussions covered procurement, technical development, testing and security activities, training preparations, data protection and business continuity planning, as well as the next steps towards delivery.

ECRIS-TCN – Advances legal updates and testing readiness

The European Criminal Records Information System for Third-Country Nationals (ECRIS-TCN) Advisory Group discussed the project and testing status, with the system currently in the Compliance Testing phase. National-level challenges identified during testing were discussed extensively. eu-LISA also presented an overview of stakeholder preparedness and shared the results of a retrospective survey on the ECRIS Reference Implementation upgrade.

Interoperability – Member States progress towards implementation

The Interoperability Advisory Group reviewed progress on the framework enabling EU information systems in the areas of borders, migration, security and justice to work together. Exchanges covered legal aspects, Member States’ readiness, screening-related developments and ongoing work on identity and access management, as well as upcoming go-live arrangements for shared services and their implications for Schengen Associated Countries.
