On 18 March 2026, eu-LISA’s Management Board met online to review progress across the Agency’s activities and address key strategic, operational and governance matters.

Key milestones advancing EU migration and border management systems

Members were updated by the Chairs of the Advisory Groups on progress across all large-scale IT systems under eu-LISA’s management. Discussions covered the state of implementation of the interoperability framework and its underlying systems, including the Entry/Exit System (EES), for which the progressive entry into operation is ongoing and expected to be completed on 10 April 2026; Eurodac, with the renewed system scheduled to enter into operation on 12 June 2026 as a key component underpinning the new Pact on Migration and Asylum, the EU’s updated framework for managing migration and asylum; and the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS), which is preparing to go live at the end of 2026. Updates were also provided on the Schengen Information System (SIS), the Visa Information System (VIS), as well as ECRIS-TCN and ECRIS RI. Related initiatives, including the Prüm II router, the API-PNR router and developments linked to the Screening Regulation, were also presented.

Strengthening digital tools for cross-border justice cooperation

In the justice domain, the Management Board discussed ongoing work on e-CODEX and the Joint Investigation Teams Collaboration Platform (JITs CP), highlighting their role in facilitating secure and efficient judicial cooperation across borders.

Aligning with EU policy developments and operational priorities

The meeting also covered broader EU-level developments relevant to the Agency’s work. Members received an update from the European Commission on legislative proposals impacting eu-LISA and a debriefing from the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting of 5 March 2026.

Operational and organisational aspects of the Agency’s work were also addressed. The Management Board reviewed updates on infrastructure projects, including capacity increase measures and developments related to eu-LISA’s facilities.

Ensuring accountability, resilience and readiness of EU systems

In line with its responsibilities, the Management Board examined financial, audit and performance-related matters, including reports from the Internal Audit Capability. It acknowledged its strong performance, reflected in the high implementation rate of recommendations, the delivery of the 2025 audit plan and the full satisfaction of governance and external stakeholders. Members also reviewed progress on anti-fraud actions, as well as measures related to human resources and ethics.

The Management Board also adopted the updated Security and Business Continuity Plans for the Schengen Information System (SIS) and Eurodac.

Further updates were provided on stakeholder feedback and the implementation of obligations stemming from the Agency’s founding regulation.
