eu-LISA participates in EU Agencies Exhibition at the European Parliament

From 30 September to 3 October, eu-LISA took part in the EU Agencies Network (EUAN) exhibition at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event aimed to raise awareness on key topics across various fields and foster the sharing of practices and expertise among EU agencies. It also provided eu-LISA with an excellent platform to showcase its vital contributions to the European Union, Member States, and European citizens.

An information stand, located in the Yehudi Menuhin area of the European Parliament, allowed eu-LISA to engage with numerous visitors, including MEPs, European Parliament staff, political advisors, committee members, and secretariats. This was an opportunity for eu-LISA to share updates on the agency’s activities, upcoming tasks, and challenges. It also facilitated discussions and collaboration with sister agencies such as Frontex, Eurojust, Europol, and the FRA on topics closely related to eu-LISA's mission.

During the event, eu-LISA’s Executive Director ad interim, Marili Männik, participated in several committee discussions and meetings with MEPs, focusing on the work and significance of EU agencies, as well as key budgetary and administrative matters. Ms. Männik highlighted the agency’s continuous progress, efforts, and achievements, reinforcing eu-LISA's commitment to securing Europe’s borders and enhancing cooperation across the Union.

As the 2024 Presidency of the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies Network (JHAAN), eu-LISA used the event to strengthen cooperation with other EU agencies, reaffirming its dedication to driving innovation and promoting police and judicial cooperation. MEPs from across political parties expressed great interest in eu-LISA’s activities.

Additionally, eu-LISA held productive meetings with key MEPs, such as Hélder Sousa Silva, the standing rapporteur on EU agencies, who expressed strong support for eu-LISA’s work in implementing EU justice and home affairs policies. The agency also had the pleasure of welcoming Estonian MEPs Marina Kaljurand, Urmas Paet, Jüri Ratas, Jana Toom, and Jaak Madison, further strengthening the relationship between Estonia and eu-LISA, which is headquartered in Tallinn.

The event concluded on a positive note, with eu-LISA reaffirming its commitment to collaborating with other EU agencies to strengthen internal security and contribute to a safer Europe. The exhibition was a great success, filled with valuable discussions, collaboration, and new opportunities for the agency to further its mission.
