From 2 to 6 February, eu-LISA hosted a series of Advisory Group (AG) meetings in Tallinn, bringing together Member States, partner agencies and the European Commission to review implementation progress and coordinate next steps for large-scale EU IT systems supporting border management, security and justice.
Entry/Exit System (EES) and European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS)
The Advisory Group reviewed the legal and operational state of play of both systems. Discussions covered the progressive roll-out of EES, operational monitoring and incident management, upcoming system releases and testing activities, as well as trends in biometric data quality observed during operations. Participants also took note of developments related to web services in operation, cooperation with carriers, updates to Integrated Planning, and ETIAS planning and transition activities, including preparations for end-to-end business testing and support to national authorities.
European Criminal Records Information System for Third-Country Nationals (ECRIS-TCN)
The Advisory Group reviewed project progress, governance outcomes and the path towards data upload. Discussions focused on compliance testing, transition to operations, training activities and remaining challenges related to biometrics, connectivity and data load preparation, with Member States sharing readiness input to support next steps and informed governance decisions. Eurojust also presented the manual procedure to be followed for the implementation of Article 17 and invited Member States to provide feedback.
Interoperability Advisory Group
The Interoperability Advisory Group discussed the implementation of projects enabling EU information systems to work together in the areas of borders, migration, security and justice. Exchanges addressed project status, legal aspects, testing outcomes, Member State preparedness and Integrated Planning, alongside discussions on scope, budget transparency and next steps related to the CSLR project.
Prüm II formation of the Interoperability Advisory Group
The meeting reviewed the current project status, timelines and legal framework for Prüm II. Discussions covered the testing strategy, progress on biometrics and forthcoming steps on technical documentation, as well as an initial structured exchange on Member State and Agency readiness, which will continue on a regular basis.
The meetings underlined the importance of close cooperation, transparency and coordinated planning to ensure the effective and timely delivery of EU large-scale IT systems.
