French Minister Barrot visits eu-LISA

On 26 February, eu-LISA had the pleasure, and honour, to host a high-level visit from the French government, Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister Delegate for Europe, attached to the Minister of European and Foreign Affairs, at the Agency's operational site in Strasbourg.

The visiting delegation, that included representatives from the European Parliament, the Assemblée Nationale, the Préfecture of the Bas-Rhin, the Région Grand Est, the Eurométropole and the Mairie of Strasbourg, was received by eu-LISA's Executive Director, Agnes Diallo as well as key personnel from both Strasbourg and Tallinn Agency premises.

The visitors were introduced to eu-LISA's core business by Ms Diallo and to ongoing projects in development, such as EES, ETIAS and ECRIS-TCN, by the respective project owners and managers.

In addition, special focus was given to the development, and new features, of the new Eurodac system and the key role it plays in the implementation of the new Pact on Asylum and Migration.

Following the opening overview, which also included a showing of eu-LISA's latest promotional video: "eu-LISA: what we do…in a nutshell" the Minister, and his entourage, were given a highly informative tour of the site's state-of-the-art data centre.

Such a high-level visit underlines the immense value of eu-LISA's work and its commitment to fostering constructive relations with EU Member States, especially France, for the additional efforts it makes as one of eu-LISA's host countries. By combining efforts, Member States and eu-LISA can fully leverage the potential of digital technology, thus strengthening the EU's means of action to meet the major challenges of security and safety, asylum and migration as well as judicial cooperation to ensure a safer Europe for all citizens.

The meeting concluded with a Q&A session during which several journalists from French Media had the opportunity to discuss with Agnès Diallo and French Minister Barrot their inquiries regarding eu-LISA and its significance in the European Union framework.

At eu-LISA, we are proud to develop and manage large-scale IT systems that streamline the work of law enforcement authorities across the Member States. It is a privilege to contribute to this collective effort.

Stronger together for a Safer Europe!
